Community Support Assessment Project Description
Consultant will conduct a series of online surveys, one-on-one interviews, and focus groups with elected officials, economic development organizations, business groups, and other leaders in the communities along the proposed route. This task will be part of a multi-faceted outreach effort to educate and receive feedback from the areas that would be served by the project.
Methodology and Timeline
10% completion: Finalize advisory group, survey instruments, descriptive materials about project (3-4 weeks)
- Complete recruitment of local advisory group
- Compile participant lists, including elected officials, economic development organizations, business groups, educators, rail advocacy group members, and other community leaders, to be used for conducting interviews.
30% completion: Develop and disseminate descriptive materials (6-8 weeks)
- Develop materials describing how the service is envisioned, and will develop options for local investment
- Develop project website, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram accounts
- Disseminate electronically and via local news outlets; Websites; related Facebook pages and groups
60% completion: Conduct open meetings at two communities along the route, to introduce and solicit feedback from the public (2 weeks)
- Arrange meeting dates, locations, speakers, materials, and other details
- Publicize events
- Arrange for streaming and/or recording
90% completion: Conduct survey with elected officials, economic development organizations, business groups, and other community leaders on proposed project (8-10 weeks)
- Develop and deploy online survey, including questions to evaluate general support, and options for ways that local communities could invest in the service
- Analyze, tabulate, and report on results.
